Unnatural XX is the culmination of a 20+-year labor of love – a concept album into which I have poured so much passion and energy. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me, indulged my incessant asks for feedback and didn't let me stop believing.
I originally wrote and recorded the album as "Unnatural" in 2004 and 2005, and it was originally "released" on July 12, 2025. The name "Unnatural XX" indicates that this is the 20th anniversary revival edition, as I simply did not have the tools, experience, or skills to really do justice to the album originally. This time around, however, it's very different. This version is exactly what I wanted it to be way back then, with a little modern-day Crimulus worked its way in as well, and I am extraordinarily proud of it.
The physical CD contains a full-color, 16-page booklet featuring each song's lyrics plus 22 commissioned artworks depicting all of the song names as "characters." The art and booklet are the result of the work of individuals from five U.S. states (Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Oregon) and 13 other countries (China, Colombia, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, Nigeria, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, United Kingdom, and Uruguay).
